After only 15 months of marriage, Porsha Williams and Simon Guobadia are allegedly separating.

On February 23, 2023, PEOPLE broke the story after securing Atlanta court records that revealed a divorce filing.

How Porsha Williams Met With Simon Guobadia

In two lavish ceremonies in Georgia in November 2022, Porsha Williams, who made her return to The Real Housewives of Atlanta official on February 13, married the Nigerian businessman. Only a few weeks after their courtship went public, the pair announced their engagement in May 2021. 

According to PEOPLE, the reality actress filed for divorce from her spouse in Atlanta on Thursday after 15 months of marriage.

The decision was made amid speculation over Guobadia’s present-day U.S. citizenship. Nevertheless, an insider informed the outlet that their breakup was due to an “ongoing matter” unrelated to recent claims about Simon’s background.

Announcing their engagement on Instagram, Williams stated that she and Guobadia were “crazy in love,” noting that although their relationship was growing quickly, they were making the most of every day.

She went on to say that she decided to choose happiness each morning and evening, blocking out any bad vibes and concentrating only on good vibes. Porsha Williams stated that her happiness with Guobadia was the most important thing to her. 

Porsha Williams initially got to know Simon Guobadia in 2020 while the Real Housewives of Atlanta was filming Season 13. He was wed to Falynn Pina, a show pal, at the time.

Williams and Guobadia have said that they didn’t start looking at each other until roughly 2021. He split up with Pina early in the year, and by spring, he was seeing Williams. He DM-ed her after learning of his divorce, which is how it all started.

That year, she revealed to Andy Cohen that she had apologized to him for his divorce and everything else since she understood how it felt. She went on to say that she was aware of the hurt and betrayal that one could experience.

Williams not only inked a contract with NBCUniversal for written project opportunities across the company’s broadcast and digital properties, but she also struck an agreement to return to Real Housewives of Atlanta.

In a statement, she expressed her gratitude to NBCUniversal for believing in her and allowing her to become a more integral member of their family. She continued by saying she was excited to return to The Real Housewives of Atlanta and share her newfound world with the audience.

Porsha Williams debuted on the program during its fifth season. Pilar, her 4-year-old daughter from a previous relationship, is her child.

According to reports, Guobadia also entered a guilty plea to credit card and bank fraud. Although he uploaded a video of himself smoking a cigar in a golf cart and included the hashtag “42yearslivinginamerica,” he hasn’t responded to the accusations directly.

Fans of the program believe that Williams’s petition for divorce has anything to do with the claims, though.

 

Williams debuted on Real Housewives of America in season six. Williams and Guobadia worked on the Real Housewives spinoff Porsha’s Family Matters in 2021 after departing the show following season 13.

Her most recent television appearance was in the 3rd season of The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip, which debuted in 2017.

In a significant move, the pair visited Benin City in southern Nigeria on a highly significant trip back to his native country in the fall of 2021. She was made to feel quite welcome and enjoyed every cultural experience. It was her first time in Nigeria, and she already declared her love for the country on Instagram at the time.
