A Big Upset in U.S. Open, History Once Again Repeats on Sunday Finals

On Sunday, History repeats once again Daniil Medvedev who a Russian tennis player, currently ranked on the third position of single by the (ATP) Association of Tennis Professionals, will fight to win the big title of the U.S. Open 2023 against the Novak Djokovic, who is Serbian tennis player, ranked on the second position of singles by the ATP. 

 The player who won the significant title of the U.S. Open and the expected player to win the U.S. Open is leaving the competition early. 

On Friday, Medvedev won an exciting match against Carlos Alcaraz, the defending champion of the U.S. (United States) Open. It was a big upset in the U.S. Open tournament. No one expected this upset. Because of this, Medvedev will play against Novak Djokovic, the 23-time Grand Slam Champion, in a rematch of the final that took place in 2021. 

 The 20-year-old Carlos Alcaraz, the best-ranked player and recent winner of Wimbledon, also won major tournaments in Queens, was defeated by Daniil Medvedev, the third-seeded player with a score of 7-6, 6-1, 3-6, 6-3. This match is considered an upset in the history of the U.S. Open 2023. 

This win was a retrieval for the Russian player, who had previously lost to the best-ranked player, Carlos Alcaraz, in the semifinals of Wimbledon back in July.

In the semifinal of the U.S. Open, Medvedev needed 4 points to secure the win in the 4th set, while Alcaraz, who is the highest-ranked player, gave all his maximum efforts to extend the match just a bit further. Medvedev got the 4-match points and qualified for the big final game against Dij Novak Djokovic, who is a Serbian tennis player, on Sunday.

Last year, the Spaniard won his 1st ever Grand Slam title by defeating Casper Ruud. Then, this July, he won his second Grand Slam title in the Wimbledon Championships by defeating Novak Djokovic, who will be Medvedev’s opponent in the upcoming big final on Sunday. 

Thrilling Match Of U.S. Open

 The match was expected to be thrilling and exciting, especially when the match entered in the first set that had to be decided with a tiebreaker. However, Medvedev had secured his energy on his side, and then, in the second set, he quickly got a 3-0 lead, although Alcaraz also gave his efforts to win the game. It would be the only one he would get. 

 Moreover, Alcaraz did not lose his hope and gave his maximum result to win the game, and he got victory in the third set. But in the end, Medvedev took all the applause by winning this game.  

 Now, Medvedev is focusing on the big match of the U.S. Open that will be held on Sunday. Medvedev wants to give his maximum effort to win his second Grand Slam title against Djokovic. This match is a rematch from the U.S. Open in 2021, where the Russian player got a victory in straight sets. Its meaning is that history will repeat once again. This point will add more thrill to the final. 

Novak Djokovic, who is a Serbian tennis player ranked on the second position of singles by the ATP, obviously focuses on enhancing his remarkable record of 34 Grand Slam titles. On Friday, He got a win against the Ben Shelton, who is just 20 years old and an unranked American Player in a straight sets. Now, Djokovic and Medvedev will face each other on Sunday finals of the U.S. Open. Both will fight for the victory of the big event.
