It was still unknown on Monday why the woman at famous pastor Joel Osteen’s megachurch opened fire the day before, sending worshipers running for cover in between packed services.

The guy was shot and killed, according to police, by two off-duty security officials at one of the biggest megachurches in the United States, Joel Osteen’s church. Along with the gunman, a 5-year-old child entered the church and was critically wounded. Two other individuals were also shot and hurt.

According to Osteen, if the shooting had taken place at the earlier at Joel Osteen’s Church, earlier late Sunday morning service, the violence may have been far worse.

How Shooting Started At Joel Osteen’s Church

Just before 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, when many were preparing to watch the Super Bowl, parishioners inside the enormous Joel Osteen’s church—once the home of the NBA’s Houston Rockets—were startled by the sound of gunfire.

At a press conference on Sunday, Houston Police Chief Troy Finner, who was standing next to Osteen, declined to identify the culprit. He identified the gunman as a woman in her early to mid-30s who had a trenchcoat, a backpack, and a long rifle as she entered the church, though he did not disclose which model.

There was a tiny child with her, maybe 4 or 5 years old. She started shooting after she got inside. The agent and the cop fought, with the woman being hit. Here on the scene, she has passed away.

Regretfully, a 5-year-old child was struck and is currently in critical condition at a nearby medical facility. A 57-year-old man who had nothing to do with anything was present.

According to Chief Finner, the woman, who was reportedly in her 30s, allegedly threatened that she had a bomb and seemed to have sprayed an unknown liquid on the ground. He added that no explosives had been discovered by the authorities.

Finner claimed that since I was ignorant of her intentions, he did not wish to discuss them. Finner continued, saying that while they would never know the whole truth, the crucial lesson was that they would stick together as a city. Finner declared that they would support the pastor and that congregation to ensure that healing started right away.

The 28-year-old HPD officer, who has two years of experience, opened fire on the woman. With four years of experience, the TABC agent who started the shooting is 38 years old.

Both were put on administrative leave for the duration of the investigation and neither was injured.

The 16,000-seat facility, which was once a sports arena, was about to begin a Spanish-language service when there was a loud bang. Videos taken inside the church revealed a panic, with many attendees racing for the doors and others taking refuge beneath their chairs by lying on the ground.

Finner announced on Sunday that all of Joel Osteen’s church would be swept to make sure there was no threat.

One source in federal law enforcement claims that the shooter used an AR-15 with the words “Free Palestine” scrawled on it. According to the source, investigators are attempting to determine if she was a disturbed person or someone driven by politics.

 

Finner expressed his desire to give the officers praise because they had a long gun and the situation could have been much worse. He continued, saying that he wished to praise them for stepping up and doing their duty.

Guity, a 35-year-old churchgoer, claimed that while the gunshots continued, he raced to his mother and they both lay flat on the ground. Guity claimed that after praying, he and his mother remained on the floor for roughly five minutes until someone announced that it was safe for them to exit the building.

Guity saw that people were crying, terrified, and searching for loved ones as he was carried outdoors.
