Kansas City Chiefs Rally

Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced on Tuesday that two individuals have been charged with murder as well as other felonies for their involvement in the mass shooting that occurred following a Kansas City Chiefs championship rally last week.

According to the prosecutor’s office, Dominic M. Miller of Kansas City and Lyndell Mays of Raytown were each charged with two charges of armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon, and second-degree murder. They have a $1 million bail being held for them.

The inquiry stated that when a verbal altercation with someone else got heated, Mays pulled out a revolver. Miller and the others pulled their guns almost instantly, which sparked the gunfight, according to Baker. According to Baker, the two had never met before that day.

Since the incident, she said, both defendants have been admitted to the hospital and are being held in custody.

Lisa Lopez-Galvan, a 43-year-old mother of two who worked as a local DJ and radio broadcaster, was mortally injured by Miller’s handgun, despite the fact that they were both charged with murder.

According to Baker, these defendants are not the same two teens who are being held in secure custody at the Juvenile Detention Center on allegations of possessing a firearm and resisting arrest. There could be more arrests, according to Baker.

A week has passed since the horrific incident that claimed Lopez-Galvan’s life and injured over 20 people, including around a dozen children. An exuberant day of celebration for the back-to-back Super Bowl champions was tragically ended by the shooting at Union Station.

After the incident, police first stated on Wednesday that they had apprehended three suspects; however, one of them was later found not to have been involved.

In a statement, Lopez-Galvan’s family expressed gratitude to the police, prosecutor’s office, and other law enforcement organizations that assisted with the investigation.

The family remarked that although justice can never bring back their beloved Lisa, they find solace in the knowledge that the KCPD and the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office made it their top priority to pursue justice for Lisa, the other gunshot victims, the people who had to watch this tragedy unfold, and the Kansas City community.
