The Memphis Police Department reported that a man believed to be responsible for three distinct shootings that resulted in the deaths of four female victims and one critically injured was discovered dead on Sunday morning.
Mavis Christian Jr., 52, was found inside a car in the 3000 block of Alta Road at 3:31 a.m. on Sunday, according to MPD. He seemed to have shot himself.

On Saturday night, three shootings left three ladies and a 13-year-old girl dead. Christian, 52, was wanted in all three cases. According to authorities, a 15-year-old girl suffered critical injuries.
The woman is the mom of the 13-year-old who was slain and the 15-year-old who was injured, according to neighbors and friends.
He should be regarded as armed and extremely dangerous, according to police, who claimed he last appeared driving a white 2017 Chevy Malibu that had Tennessee tag #390-BHTM on Saturday night.
According to the police, initial data suggested that there was a connection between the shootings and that they were instances of domestic violence. According to the authorities, each victim was a relative of Mr. Christian.
Late on Saturday night, after cops had reacted to a shooting shortly after 9 p.m., local, state, and federal law enforcement authorities began looking for Christian. One female victim of a gunshot wound was declared deceased when police arrived.
Throughout the investigation, Memphis Police claimed on X, formerly known as Twitter, that they had established a connection between this shooting scene and two other recent shooting scenes, all involving the same perpetrator.
Officers were called to Warrington Road for a second shooting about an hour later. There, they discovered a woman who seemed to have been shot in the head and was confirmed dead.
Just before 9:30 p.m., police were called to a third incident on Howard Drive, where a woman was found injured by a gunshot. At the scene, she was also pronounced deceased.
The authorities have not disclosed the victims’ identities and how they are connected to the suspect.
Memphis Police reported that the perpetrator was swiftly discovered without causing any more casualties thanks to the cooperation of law enforcement, the community, and the media.
During the ensuing manhunt, the Memphis Police Department and the City’s communications staff moved swiftly to make sure that the general public was informed of this dangerous and quickly developing situation by sending out emergency notification alerts throughout the entire city.

In a statement released early on Sunday morning, Memphis Police Chief Cerelyn “C.J.” Davis expressed the department’s sincere sadness over the tragic and senseless shootings that took place on Saturday, November 18, which left four innocent family members dead and one seriously injured. The chief continued, saying that as their community mourns the loss of additional lives due to domestic abuse, their thoughts and prayers were with the victims and their loved ones.
The chief said that these kinds of tragedies rocked his department to its foundation and that their department continued to show an unflinching dedication to safeguarding the safety and well-being of their inhabitants. He went on to say that they valued the community’s forbearance, participation, and assistance during these trying times and that they were eager to work with them to make Memphis a safer place.
Christian’s Criminal Records
Christian’s criminal history stems from a 1996 accusation of aggravated assault, per court documents. The most recent accusations against him were for felony domestic abuse, aggravated assault, theft, and vandalism in 2018. He was also detained in 2007 on suspicion of two crimes of aggravated assault and attempted second-degree murder, both of which were later dropped.
